Bulgaria's Agriculture Ministry has received 22 signals for misappropriation with funds of the SAPARD program since its start, Minister Nihat Kabil announced Wednesday.

The last signal for misappropriation came from Germany and it is about an international scheme for frauds, in which a famous businessman was involved, Kabil added.

The uncovering of this crime shows to the European Union that Bulgaria has the will and possibilities to cope with crimes.

Investigations on such signals are now under way, Kabil assured but refused to give names and specific projects as they must be kept secret at this time. If the investigation finds people, responsible for the SAPARD program in Bulgaria are involved, they will face the stringency of law, Kabil promised.
