Romania's President Upset About Labour Restrictions

Romanian President Traian Basescu has rebelled against the labour market barriers that some of the EU members have placed before Bulgarian and Romanian workers.

Basescu appeared Sunday on Romanian TV, blaming Europeans who illegally employ workers from his country.
"Not only are Romanians guilty, but, at least as guilty are the employers of the EU countries who illegally employ them on low salaries," he said, quoted by EU Observer.

Basescu was especially angry with the UK for placing a two-year cautionary ban on workers from the two countries in most areas. "What we are upset about is the different treatment for Romanians and Bulgarians working in the UK, compared to the first 10 countries which joined the Union in 2004," he said.
