For the first time since Bulgaria joined the EU, the country did not obey the Brussels's will, trying to prove smokers are not sinners.

As if just for a change, Bulgaria and its citizens turned down the proposed full ban on smoking. Pro-smokers argued it was too minor an issue to be slammed a criminal because of smoking. It wouldn't be very comfortable for a smoker to hide a cigarette and its smoke under a table in some restaurant or bar and be caught, would it?

I do agree with them. The amount of dirt we inhale while trying to cross some or other boulevard is just as unhealthy as breathing in tobacco smoke when sitting in a nightclub.

Bulgarian smokers in fact became the first, who managed to gain their right on something even without protests, unlike all the others, especially the rakiya rebels.

It is better this way, because if there is a public smoking ban, Bulgaria's smokers will surely violate it at some point.
