Universities in the Netherlands will be reducing tuition taxes for Bulgarians, now that they are part of the EU, Willem van Ee, the country's Ambassador to Sofia explained at a press conference on Tuesday.
The briefing presented the Dutch educational system and the new educational opportunities for Bulgarian citizens in the Netherlands, now that taxes will drop to about EUR 1,500 a year. Before Bulgarian students had to pay between EUR 5,784 to EUR 9480 per academic year.
The aim of the press conference is to present the forthcoming information days on the new opportunities for higher education in the Netherlands arising from Bulgaria's EU membership. The initiative comes from the Holland Education Consortium consisting of four universities - Tilburg, Wageningen, Leiden and CHN. At the beginning of February representatives of the consortium are going to promote the advantages of the Dutch higher education and the variety of programs offered by those universities.
The Dutch educational system is known for its flexibility and innovative study and research methods. It offers a high number of English taught programmes and courses covering a wide range of fields, van Ee explained.
