One of the founders of the right-wing Union of Democratic Forces in Bulgaria was remembered six years after his death with a book containing his prose.

"The Labyrinth" presented Georgi Spasov in a role that Bulgarians aren't used to seeing him in - that of a writer.

"Bulgaria knew Spasov as a politician, as one of the founders of the UDF and as the Union's spokesman," former Bulgarian president Zhelyo Zhelev said at the book premiere in Sofia.

He described Spasov as an "astute political thinker," adding that he was just as gifted as a writer.

Deep inside Spasov was a hesitant and gentle person, looking for his ideals and perfection in his prose, Zhelev added. He announced that a second volume of the book is under way.
