The European Union will continue the dialogue with Libya until the five Bulgarian nurses and a Palestinian doctor are released, European Commissioner for External Relations Benita Ferrero-Waldner said.
Waldner explained that the EU has engaged political consultants to decide on helping the HIV-infected children in Libya and their families. Brussels is working in two directions, she said. One is trying to get the medics out of jail, where they are on death row, and the other to help the families, whose children the Bulgarians supposedly infected.
"We still haven't reached the end of the road and the dialogue continues," Waldner said. "The EU treats this issue with priority right now."
