Novinite.com editorial staff and its readers once again proved they make a great team together. Pooling efforts with Mr Neil Buhne, UNDP Resident Representative, we helped accommodate an old, immobile and sick woman from the village of Rossen, close to the Black Sea town of Burgas.

Mrs Catherine Almond, a British lady and reader of Novinite.com, was the first to alert us about the suffering woman in a letter that we published at the Letter to the Editor Section.

"The lady in question is immobile and incontinent and cannot do anything for herself. The doctor suspects she may have a tumour in her brain but nobody seems to want to do anything about it," Almond said in her appeal for help.

A kind reply followed quickly from Mr Neil Buhne. The elderly lady was admitted to residential care in a village near Karnobat thanks to the Social Assistance Agency and UNDP office, who deal with the Social Assistance through New Employment (SANE) project.

The SANE project is assisting with the development and implementation of alternative forms of community based social assistance in 13 municipalities, including home care, and helping with integration of that approach into national programmes. It is a project dealing with people who have fallen through the safety net and providing ways that they can stay in their homes and/or with family.
