MEPs Debate Resolution on Bulgarian Nurses in Libya

MEPs will discuss with the European Commission and Council the case of the Bulgarian and Palestinian medical staff facing a death sentence in Libya, before adopting a resolution on the issue.

The resolution includes evaluation of the case and an appeal to the European Commission to closely supervise the development of the trial. If there is no positive development on the case soon, the EC will be asked to re-examine its relations with Libya, including the economic ones.

The final version of the project was signed by 41 MEPs from several political groupСЃ in the European Parliament.

In the document it is stated that in its development the EP has taken into consideration the annual reports on the state of human rights in the Union and the accession resolutions on Bulgaria's EU joining. The document underlines the fact that the HIV trial concerns directly five citizens of the European Union.

The vote on the resolution will take place on Thursday.
