The chairman of right-wing Union of Democratic Forces was nominated to lead the ticket of the party at the first MEP elections this spring.
Former President Petar Stoyanov will be offered to UDF's executive body to seal the reports that he has been eyeing a seat in the European Parliament.
Currently, UDF has two lawmakers delegated to the EP - Martin Dimitrov and Filip Dimitrov - who along with another 16 colleagues will represent Bulgaria in the EU's legislation process.
Petar Stoyanov has earlier said his party will run independently in the May elections of MEPs. He has declared full mobilization to revive the public image of UDF, marred by the incessant splinter and leadership scandals inside the party.
Bulgarians will vote at the country's first EP elections the middle of May. Currently the parliamentary groups have delegated 18 full-fledged MEPs following the same representation as in the National Assembly.
