Masked well-wishers (koukeri) from Bulgaria's mountain hotspot of Bansko paraded through Sofia on Sunday.

Part of the "Bansko Visits Sofia" initiative, the parade heralded a concert of folk music from the Pirin Mountains that will take place Sunday evening in the National Palace of Culture.

The koukeri walked down the central streets of the capital and then convinced passers-by to join them in a giant dance in front of the Alexander Nevski Cathedral.

The initiative is held under the patronage of Sofia Mayor Boyko Borisov and his Bansko counterpart Alexander Kravarov.
