If we look at history, there are not many cases in which relations between Bulgaria and Russia at the state level were as bad as they are at the moment.

The nationwide campaign "You are not alone!" calling for the release of long-time jailed Bulgarian medics in Libya is gaining speed and promises to decorate the national three-colours on the lapels of foreign diplomats and friends of Bulgaria. The courtesy of the Bulgarian society and the government towards Libyan authorities and its manoeuvring to bargain profits from the trial has made a U-turn after a deja-vu scenario began on December 19.
Eight years have been quite enough to exhaust a rich arsenal of diplomatic, both official and unofficial, gears to seek a way out of the deadlock. And nobody believes the same arsenal will be of use this time.
But reluctance and indecisiveness would not be beneficial for the six convicted, whose physical and spiritual stamina are at stake while world leaders map out strategies for "economic cooperation and bringing Libya out of isolation".
Tripoli has been pushing the development of the trial onto the path of bargaining and Sofia has firmly opposed to talk any compensations. Simply because of the official policy that compensations mean admitting they are guilty. Has anyone heard about an alternative strategy? Has anybody seen positive results? I personally have not. And nothing is indicative I would.
But what I see and I feel proud of is the indignation and intolerance Bulgarians have been expressing loudly with such injustice. I hope this helps!
