Bulgarian bus companies have denied British media reports that the number of trips to the UK has considerably increased, following the country's accession to the European Union.
"Only one Bulgarian bus company services direct trips to London. These are conducted on Fridays," Margarita Dinkova, Evrotours agency manager, told the national radio.
Another option for the Bulgarians travelling to the United Kingdom is to board a bus of a Belgian company or travel to the Czech Republic or Belgium and get transferred off to London.
Earlier today the Sun reported that Bulgarian bus companies have increased the number of trips to the UK from two a week to two a day. A ticket agent in Sofia was cited as saying that all the buses are full this week and next.
This is not the first time that the British tabloid ruffles feathers in Bulgaria by publishing false information. It has already turned into a practice for it to capitalize on British fears of influx of migrants from the two newly acceded countries.
At the end of last year the newspaper was forced to deny earlier claims that Britain is facing an AIDS epidemic due to immigrants from the two countries.
