Bulgarian doctors do not want to work in the Czech Republic because of the language barrier, daily Lidove Noviny said.
Czech Health Minister Tomas Julinek's plans to fill in the vacancies in his country with medical staff from Bulgaria and Romania stand little chances of success, the paper says.
The doctors declined offers to work in the Czech Republic not only because of the lack of fluency in the language but also because they prefer to move to the economically stronger EU states.
At the end of 2006 Julinek declared he would try to fill in the vacancies in his country with staff from the Balkans at least until the new health law came into force.
But according to the paper, Bulgarian and Romanian doctors failed to show any interest in the offer.
