Bulgaria may approach the European Union council of energy ministers to consider putting back into operations its two decommissioned nuke units.
Bulgaria's former EU-Affairs minister and now EU commissioner Meglena Kuneva expressed the opinion on January 3, three days after the country shut down the reactors at its sole Kozloduy nuclear power station to meet the safety requirements of the European Union.
Kuneva spoke at the official ceremony of the Delegation of the European Commission to Bulgaria as it turned into EC Representation here.
Kuneva proposed that Bulgaria join Lithuania and Slovakia, which are sure to stir debates over their nuclear energy.
"The issue of nuke units 3 and 4 may be reconsidered if there is political will for that," Kuneva said.
