As few as 100 Bulgarians are likely to come to Edinburgh after the country joins the EU next month, according to new predictions, cited by the Scotsman.
The figure is more than 100 times fewer than the number of Poles estimated to have moved to the Capital since Poland became part of the EU in 2004.
The article, entitled "The Bulgarians aren't coming" approached Professor Nikolai Zhelev, the honorary Bulgarian consul for Scotland, who predicts that around 2000 Bulgarians in total would come to Scotland.
"Only a tiny percentage would settle in the capital, with many moving to Dundee, where most of Scotland's Bulgarians currently live," he believes.
Prof Zhelev said the high cost of living and city lifestyle was likely to put a lot of his countrymen off coming to Edinburgh.
