Bulgaria and Romania will sign Friday a plan for developing cooperation between their border institutions in 2007.
The agreement will regulate the execution of the new system for border patrol and the cooperation between the representatives of the two countries' border services.
The Russe - Giurgiu border checkpoint at the Danube has already been fitted with a one-stop control system that will be demonstrated on Friday and put to use on January 1. The goal is to have passports checked just once, between the two countries instead of twice.
This is the first step towards the gradual abolishment of border control between Bulgaria and Romania after the border between the two becomes an interior Schengen border.
