Sofia citizens were surprised with a huge 30 meters balloon that ascended in the sky above the city on Wednesday.

The balloon, representing Bulgaria and EU's flag took off in front of the National Palace of Culture.

The initiative was launched by Bulgaria's biggest oil company Petrol AD. The event is dedicated to the country's first year in the European Union.

The balloon will stay in the sky until December 30 and anyone who feels like going on a tiny in-city adventure may get in the nacelle to see the Christmas streets from above.
