Bulgaria's first EU Commissioner Meglena Kuneva awarded Wednesday journalists for their contribution for the country's European integration.

The official ceremony of the awards, named "Europe - pass it on", took place in the Ministry of Interior. The awards were handed out for the work of journalist to popularise the European idea in Bulgaria.

Kuneva, who used to work as a journalist at the Bulgarian national radio at the start of her career, opened the ceremony with the words "You were my incentive and my corrective".
