Bulgaria's Top Christmas Charity Event Fetches Record-High Revenues

The record-high sum of BGN 2, 219, 921 was gathered by the major charity initiative "The Bulgarian Christmas", held under the patronage of president Georgi Parvanov.

Turned into a long-standing and much cherished tradition, the initiative was once again a whooping success and will save the lives of thirty-five sick Bulgarian children.

Like in previous years, a Christmas concert marked the culmination of the fourth edition of the initiative, but the phone lines will be left open until New Year's Eve. Those, who want to donate, may transfer money to the bank accounts of the initiative by the end of January.

The concert was broadcast by the national TV channel on Christmas night and offered a new and irresistible attraction for the audience. A phone call at the price of BGN 1 offered the chance to donate by chatting with Bulgaria's top stars, including Albena Denkova and Maxim Staviski, Vesselin Topalov, Miro and Galya from Karizma duet, Martin Petrov and others.

A record-high amount of BGN 500,000 came into the bank accounts of the charity fund during the ninety minutes of the festive night, an average of BGN 4992 per minute.
