Luxembourg government decided to restrict the number of Romanians and Bulgarians allowed to work in the country after joining the EU on January 1.

The same restrictions were applied to migrant workers from the eight other eastern European states, which joined the bloc in 2004, the government pointed out in a statement.

During the first stage of the process, permits will easily be issued for unskilled Bulgarian and Romanian workers, primarily in the agriculture sector.
