If a person has been deprived of a driving licence in a EU state he/she will not be allowed to drive a car anywhere else within the Union.
The measure will come into force in Bulgaria when it becomes a full-fledged member of the EU as of January 1, 2007.
Bulgaria's government decided Thursday to join the convention on depriving individuals of the right to drive vehicles.
The cabinet approved the document and put it forward to parliament for ratification.
The convention includes definitions of the major cases in which the state of residence can deprive a person from their driving licence.
