Bulgarian border police is ready to step into guard of European Union's outer border when the country joins in a month.

Along with the ongoing equipment of the border facilities, border policemen have been trained to new professional duties as Bulgaria will lift its border area with other member states Romania and Greece.

Talking to journalists on Wednesday, chief of border police Commissioner Krassimir Petrov said the majority of signals for corruption concern minor bribes of EUR 10 to EUR 50.

As a result of the tightened control and the implementation of anti-corruption measures, nine border officers were sacked and another dozen replaced to less responsible jobs.
