Only 5.6% of the high school students from Bulgaria's north Razgrad do not drink alcohol, a research of the drug prevention and information centre shows.

The research, which was carried out among 1,270 students between 9th and 12th grade, revealed that every sixth student tried alcohol at the age of 10.

Some 15.1% of the teenagers have used marihuana over the year. 5.6% of the children have used hashish.

Among the reasons why they turn to drugs the teenagers point out curiosity, pleasure, and boredom.

About 4% of the students said they lighted their first cigarette at the age of 10.
