The European Parliament is scheduled to test the expertise and preparedness of Bulgaria's Meglena Kuneva for the chair of EU commissioner.

Leonard Orban, the Commissioner designated by Romania, goes before the Culture Committee from 13.00h to 16.00h, and Meglena Kuneva before the Industry Committee from 16.30h to 19.30h.

The evaluation of the hearings will take place the next day, November 28.

In preparation for the hearings each Commissioner-designate was asked to answer a written questionnaire drawn up by the relevant parliamentary committee.

Each hearing will begin with an opening statement by the Commissioner-designate followed by a question and answer session. During this MEPs and Bulgarian and Romanian observers at the European Parliament will have the occasion to test the candidates' qualifications.

The vote of approval of the two Commissioners designate will take place during the December plenary session in Strasbourg. Following the Parliament's vote, the two Commissioners will be formally appointed by the Council. After their appointment, the Commissioners will take an oath before the Court of Justice.

The new Commissioners' mandates will expire at the end of October 2009, at the same time as the Commissioners already in office.

The hearing will be broadcast live by the Bulgarian National Radio.
