For the sixth year in a row trees were planted in Bulgaria as part of the "Gorichka" (little forest) project.

About 100 trees were planted Saturday morning in Sofia's South Park. The rest of the money collected as part of the initiative will be used to buy more trees, which will be placed on an area of the Vitosha Mountain in order to restore several coniferous forests affected by woodworms.

The project aims at improving the state of the environment by planting trees in areas in and around Sofia.

The initiative is financed entirely by personal donations. No EU project are involved and everyone is welcome to take part.

Gorichka is an initiative of Bulgaria's top tennis player Magdalena Maleeva. She has been involved in issues for a long time and in 2006 launched Gorichka.bg to focus her efforts on green projects.
