There are about 10,000 systematic drug-takers in Bulgaria, a report of the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction shows.

About 35% of Bulgarian students have tried drugs at least once in their life. The highest percent of drug-takers in Bulgaria is among young people aged between 18 and 35.

Cannabis and amphetamines are the most widespread drugs in Bulgaria. The percent of cocaine-takers is relatively low - 1%. Experts believe this is due to the fact it is very expensive.

At the moment there are over 300,000 people in the country who have tried drugs at least once in their life.

Great Britain, Spain, and Italy rank first in drug use according to the report.
