With a majority of 97-2 votes, 16 abstained, the Danish Parliament ratified the EU Accession Treaty of Bulgaria and Romania.
The news was announced by Bulgarian Parliament Speaker Georgi Pirinski, while lawmakers were discussing the key fourth amendment to the Constitution.
With the vote on Tuesday Denmark lined with the rest of EU member states with ratification of the key accord to let Sofia and Bucharest into the bloc as full-fledged members.
During plenary discussions earlier this month lawmakers from the Danish Liberal Party, Social-Democratic Party, Conservative People's Party and Socialist People's Party, have signalled the majority for approval of the treaty.
Thus Germany remains the last EU member state pending with procedures to complete the ratification of the Accession Treaty signed April 2005 in Luxembourg.
Besides the already confirmed date - 1 January 2007 - for accession, it is indispensable for Sofia and Bucharest to have a full list of ratifications to be allowed into the bloc of 25.
