The huge drama of young people in Bulgaria is that they experience great difficulty in making choices. They find it hard to choose a profession, a partner in life, they even find it hard to pick a hobby.
As a result more and more people end up in jobs they don't like, in relationships they despise, in hobbies that instead of making them relaxed, make them tenser than ever.
Unfulfilled desires are the second evil in the world after psychological complexes. But it is not the lack of potential to fulfill desires that the major problem lies in. It is in the total confusion that has taken grasp of young people. They have the potential, yet they lack the courage to make a choice. They prefer not to make a choice at all rather than make the wrong one.
Still, unfulfilled desires, stemming from the total failure of somebody to make a choice, whether that is parents, teachers or society as a whole, lead to aggressiveness even in modest and decent people. Aggressiveness leads to violence.
Violence ends up on the front pages of all newspapers because we can't ignore it. Especially when it's connected with teenagers killing teenagers, kids murdering kids, underaged beating underaged, human beings annihilating their fellows. Let's hope that Kalki will remain only on paper, in the libraries under the "V" for Vidal, Gore-section, not for "V" as in "vice"...
