After January 1, 2007 the Greek market will be flooded with cheap Bulgarian goods, similar to the Chinese ones, Athens' daily Vima has said.
In an article titled "Bulgarian threat to Greek market" the newspaper prognosticates that after the import taxes on Bulgarian food are dropped they will flood the Greek market and will cause shock to manufacturers in Greece.
The repercussions will be significant, particularly on the foods market, Bima claims, where multiplied imports will impact the domestic industry.
Then the Greek newspaper projects the "domino effect" will spread on the services sector, as "the Bulgarian plumber" will be unrestrained to pass freely the two countries' border.
Last week Greece announced that it decided to curb immigration from Bulgaria and Romania after the two countries join the European Union in January, contrary to all expectations in neighbouring Bulgaria.
