Woman Wins French Socialists' Presidential Nomination

French socialist picked early Friday morning their president runner, thus making Segilene Royale move a step closer to becoming the first female president of France. Royale crushed her two male rivals for the party's nomination in next April's election, gathering 60.6 % of the votes in an unusual party primary. Dominique Strauss-Kahn, Royale's closest rival got 20.8% of the vote and former PM Laurent Fabius received 18.5%. Officials in Ms. Royal's camp said they expected her to take around 60 % of the vote. The victory will help Royale to be the only candidate, who could beat rightists' runner, Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy. Segolene Royale, 53 is regional president and former minister.
