Orphans from various parts of Bulgaria were the first audience of IMAX's newest 3D feature "Santa Claus vs The Snowman".

More than 150 children flocked to Cinema City International (CCI) on Wednesday evening to see the unique movie.

They were really surprised with the opportunity to take a picture with the lead characters - Santa Claus and The Snowman.

The movie is a new holiday classic and a heartwarming story for all ages. A lonely snowman comes across Santa Claus' bustling village one Christmas Eve. Jealous of Santa's good fortune, he makes a desperate attempt to capture the spirit of Christmas and win the children's affection for himself.

Patrons of the Christmas-heralding charity initiative are actors Natalia Simeonova and Bate Encho and charming former MP and TV anchor Yuliana Doncheva.

The unique 3D cinema M-Tel IMAX opened doors in Sofia-based Cinema City International (CCI) this summer. It is the first multiplex on the Balkans with the impressive 12-hall room.

The IMAX screens and images seen are up to 18meters high and 24 meters wide, which is 4.5 thousand times bigger than the average-size TV screen. The IMAX screen is almost flat with slight curved edges. The curvature extends beyond the field of peripheral vision, and due to that the field of vision of everyone in the audience is fully filled by the image.

The amphitheatre-way designed 404-seat enables perfect view from every seat. The vision screened in IMAX is enhanced by the greatest and specially designed six-channel sound system with loudspeakers suited for IMAX with power up to 14,000 kW.

The IMAX technology has the capacity to display images of far greater size and resolution than conventional film display systems. It is the most successful large-format special-venue film presentation system.
