Bulgaria can double its export to Russia, and Russia is interested in this, Russian
Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Kudrin told a news conference after the end of the 7th Session of the bilateral Commission for Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation.

Bulgaria and Russia will shortly sign two agreements on arms trade control and on settlement of payments for defence supplies manufacture licences, Bulgaria’s Deputy Prime Minister Vassilev said.

Kudrin said that Russia may provide up to USD 80 M for the modernization of the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant in 2002 and 2003. He recalled that Russia's 2002 budget envisages USD 10 M for the Bulgarian N-plant. Bulgaria is getting the financing in the form of a state-guaranteed loan.

Until the end of March, the working group on transport will start work on a project for a river-sea link between the two countries. Russia will not reduce the quotas for Bulgarian road hauliers on its territory and, if necessary, is ready to increase them, Vassilev said.

The Bulgarian-Russian Intergovernmental Commission will hold its 8th Session in the first quarter of 2003, most probably in St. Petersburg.
