European Commissioner for Regional Policy Danuta Hubner has warned the governments of several member countries and those of Bulgaria and Romania that they still hadn't notified the EC of their regional development plans.
The countries all have to submit their plans of how they would use EU finds to simulate their economical growth and create workplaces.
Austria and Latvia are the only countries that have presented their programs so far, Hubner pointed out.
She explained that EU members, including Bulgaria and Romania, will have more than EUR 350 B at their disposal for the period between 2007 and 2013. This totals to 35% of the EU budget and the money should cover projects for stimulating regional development.
Every country has to inform the European Commission on how it plans to spend the money, but the last word is up to Brussels, with commissioners deciding which projects will be funded.
