“Macedonia's and Bulgaria's politicians should concentrate on the future and continue the positive tendencies in bilateral relations,” Bulgaria’s President Georgi Parvanov said in an interview for the independent "Dnevnik" Skopje daily.

The special interview was taken on the eve of Parvanov's two-day visit to Skopje, starting from February 26.

According to Parvanov, "the peoples of both countries and especially the future generations are expecting an improvement in Macedonian-Bulgarian relations."

"I would like to assure our Macedonian friends that Bulgaria will continue to cooperate with the Republic of Macedonia in its struggle for statehood and territorial integrity," the Bulgarian President said. He added that there should not be the
slightest suspicion that by this Bulgaria is interfering in the internal affairs of Macedonia.

In the interview President Parvanov expressed his conviction that the building of the railway between Bulgaria and Macedonia would be much more beneficial to the development of bilateral relations than numerous of political visits.
