The renowned Bulgarian writer Bogomil Raynov was awarded the state honour Paisii Hilendarski for 2006. The award was presented to him by Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev.

A professional jury elected the prominent Bulgarian classic among six other nominees, including musicians, poets, film directors and sculptors.

The award was given to Raynov for his contribution to Bulgaria's culture and literature. His books have been translated to all European languages.

Bogomil Raynov is the seventh winner of the state award. He was born in 1919 and graduated from Philosophy department of the Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski in 1943. He is a prominent Bulgarian writer, art critic and aesthete.

Prominent Bulgarians such as Professors Vera Mutafchieva, Svetlin Russev, Stefan Danailov, and Bogdan Tomalevski are also presented the prestigious award.
