Bulgaria does not avail itself fully of the traditional opportunities for trade with Russia," Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Kudrin who co-chairs the Bulgarian-Russian intergovernmental commission for trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, said.

He confirmed Russia’s readiness for economic cooperation in the transport of oil, in the energy, nuclear engineering and military-technical sector. The Russian Deputy Prime Minister said that up till now the most complex problem concerned the Russian foreign debt to Bulgaria. Commenting EU requirements for the security of Kozloduy nuclear plant's units, Kudrin pointed out that Russia is participating in the international efforts to increase the units' safety and has allocated funds from its budget for the reconstruction of Unit Four.

The Russian stand on NATO is sufficiently flexible and we are participating in different mechanisms of cooperation with NATO, he pointed out.
