"What is left for right-wing supporters to do? May be vote for Socialist Parvanov!", a colleague of mine asked frustrated three months before the presidential elections.

And they did so, as data of the presidential vote showed yesterday.

The last rites were delivered to the right-wing at the very beginning of the pre-election campaign when former prime minister Ivan Kostov picked a worthy, but popular only in judicial circles, nominee - Nedelcho Beronov.

Small wonder it is hard to predict where the right-wing parties will be in the next months, as no magic formulae exist to revive them. It is not unity that will cure them, but the long process of healing - a chance for them to go full steam ahead with any changes they have been planning.

Whether the leaders are nothing but a thorn in the flesh that should be removed and burned is only the parties' concern to decide.

Nobody cares about the leaders, when what they lead is dead.

NOW WHAT?

As a chasm opened between the politicians, rattling off rosy EU prospects, and the people and their real concerns, there came the nationalist Siderov.

He, together with the Socialists, will be the parties to come through loud and clear in the next months. Just like Sofia mayor Boyko Borisov GERB, whom we expect to occupy the centrist part of the spectrum. He does not face the risk of trespassing on the territory of the former king. Saxe-Coburg's party members will be quick to scurry abroad after the end of the coalition government mandate.
