If we look at history, there are not many cases in which relations between Bulgaria and Russia at the state level were as bad as they are at the moment.

When two young women started their day yesterday they probably had plans spanning beyond six in the evening. Just like all the people who get killed on the road daily, they didn't know that by getting into their car they would encounter a killer.
When a drunk driver kills himself and the family in the car he smashed into, everyone knows who is to blame, and an impartial press release the next morning says "three people have died in 25 grave accidents over the past 24 hours." So impartial that our skin has hardened and we rarely even report on these short lines that arrive every day.
Yet yesterday's tragedy got me thinking. Just like many car crash victims these women's life was cut short because someone felt him- or herself above the laws. Above traffic laws, above construction laws, above health laws, above anti-corruption laws... a lot of people in Bulgaria seem to feel that way, and a sudden check in all constructions in the country wouldn't bring these two lives back. Same as short-time raids on speeding drivers don't bring back the dozens of lives lost on Bulgaria's roads every week.
What we need is a change of attitude, because if we keep on launching investigations into the problems of the county only when lives are lost, then our EU integration and future prosperity would come at too high a price.
