EC Official, Wife Killed in Robbery

An Italian official of the European Commission and his wife have been killed last night at their home in Rabat, the commission confirmed earlier reports. The murder of Alessandro Missir di Lusignano, posted in the Commission delegation in Morocco, and his wife, Ms Arianne Lagasse de Locht, a Belgium citizen, is believed to have followed a robbery. Their four children are unhurt. "We are profoundly shocked by this horrific attack and express our condolences to the four children of the victims, their families and friends," said European Commissioner for External Relations and Neighborhood Policy, Benita Ferrero-Waldner.
