The Anglo-American School has opened its brand new school in Sofia, boasting finely equipped classrooms, equipment and facilities.

Located in the suburban area of Pancharevo, the school was renovated under a project worth of EUR 9 M.

It has a unique solar panel system allowing for safe illumination entry at all classrooms.

The official ceremony Sunday afternoon was attended by Sofia Mayor Boyko Borisov, UK Ambassador Jeremy Hill and US Ambassador John R. Beyrle.

"This school is a symbol of the significance Bulgaria has as a site for foreign investments. It is an expression of our investments in the future of Bulgaria," the US ambassador said during the ceremony.

The official school year in Bulgaria is commencing next Friday, September 15. It will meet 200 children from 35 countries, but still some 15% of pupils there are Bulgarian.
