Bulgaria Praised for Iodine Deficiency Disorders Control

Bulgaria received a high assessment in the fight with iodine deficiency disorders at an international forum in Italy.

The meeting labeled Bulgaria a model in the elimination of iodine deficiency and the related diseases, Darik News reported.

Iodine-treated salt is among the major methods used to control the disease.

It was also emphasized that Bulgaria's success is due to the joint efforts and support of all governments for the last 15 years.

Iodine deficiency remains a problem in many countries around the globe. It causes enlargement of the thyroid gland.
