Cosmetics giant Avon opened a pedestrian boulevard in Sofia within the framework of its charity campaign against breast cancer.

The initiative aims to raise awareness of breast cancer as a problem to the whole society, not only to the women hit by the disease.

"It is high time we start thinking about breast cancer as a problem to the entire family and the society, and not only to women," organizers say.

The boulevard, called "Love for Life", will live a weeklong life and include a number of boulevards located in the capital's central part.

Avon will hold a march along the "boulevard" against breast cancer, with the participation of entertainment stars on September 3.

Every year, more than 3,100 Bulgarian women are diagnosed with breast cancer.
