Fox Network's "24" spy thriller swept the Emmy Awards on Sunday winning the prize as best drama series.

The hit production won most Emmys, including best lead actor in a drama for its Canadian-bred star Kiefer Sutherland and best director.

During his speech right after he got the prize, Sutherland addressed his father Donald and invited him to have a dinner together for such a recognition is worth celebrating.

Both "24" and Sutherland were nominated five years in a row before the critics finally distinguished them.

Alan Alda was named best supporting actor in a drama for his role as a presidential candidate on the final season of "The West Wing", while Megan Mullally clinched the supporting comedic actress.
