Sofia People's Health Worsened By Heats

The past months of scorching heat have wrecked the health of Sofia people, medics have told the media.

On Friday Pirogov emergency institute has accepted a patient with heart problems every ten minutes, and many were in such a state that they had to be wheeled in, Trud daily reports.

Doctors say that they hadn't seen such a number of cardiac arrests and crises due to high blood pressure in a very long time and blamed the weather.

The cardiology ward in the hospital is fully occupied and there isn't a single free bed, doctors point out. They explain that apart from the heat, another reason was that young people escaped at the seaside, while their elderly parents stayed on in the cities and had to do choirs by themselves, despite the fact that their health wasn't blooming to start with.

Medics continue to urge people to stay at home during the hottest periods of the day, and to drink a lot of water and juice if they can't avoid going out.
