In all democratic societies, including the Republic of Bulgaria, holding a serious public and professional dialogue on the main principles of its policy guarantees successful governing, Prime Minister said, following the rejection of the non-confidence vote against his Cabinet. In his opinion the debates on one of the key accents in the Cabinet’s policy – healthcare and medicines, has provided the opportunity for different points of view to be heard. He underlined the lack of sufficient arguments against the introduction of VAT on medicines, which was the basic argument for submitting the non-confidence vote.

“In this sense I take the outcome of the non-confidence vote as a positive assessment of the Cabinet’s consistent policy in the health care sector, despite the unpopular measures. In introducing the VAT on medicines the Cabinet aims to preserve and secure all resources for easy to access, high quality and efficient healthcare, he pointed out. Judging by the objective social-political conditions in the country the Prime Minister expressed certainty in the adequacy of the Cabinet’s efforts, targeting the three main commitments it has made – creating conditions for professional service, a special approach to the socially underprivileged, financial discipline and the introduction of European standards and concepts.

Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg called for consensus so that the political, economic and social stability of the country is maintained. He thanked all those who supported the Cabinet. I believe we will demonstrate political will and vision and will do everything we can in order to realize the important priorities of Bulgaria’s foreign and domestic policy, the prime minister concluded.
