An intriguing stone head has emerged at the Pliska archeological site, when Bulgaria's first capital used to rise once, the private news network Darik News reported.
Archeologist have said that the authenticity of the piece could not be confirmed yet.
There is a possibility that the stone head was actually made in recent years and placed in Pliska for archaeologists to find, experts say.
If it proves to be a genuine, the object could help learn much more about the art of the Old Bulgarians, which remains a mystery to a great extend, Valeri Grigorov at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences has told Darik Nerws.
Pliska was the first Capital (after 681-893) of the First Bulgarian Kingdom. The site is located in northeast Bulgaria, near Shumen.
