Hollywood makeup artist Dean Jones is planning to open an office in Bulgaria, where he could sell materials and maybe hold classes in turning a perfectly normal man into a flesh-shredding zombie, he told SNA.

Jones, who has worked on hits like Pirates of the Caribbean, Poseidon and Jarhead, is in Sofia for the production of US movie maker Nu Image's latest movie. The horror, titled Day of the Dead, stars Mena Suvari.

Joined by just two assistants, Jones admits that he can't use local make-up artists as he had to bring his own materials and they are something Bulgarians haven't worked with before. This is why he seems interested in using the Balkan country as a base for opening a Europe-wide business. He already has offices on the East and West Coast, and Europe would be a nice place to spread out to, he says.

Asked if he would join the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts (NATFA) in preparing young artists to create masterpieces with a different kind of brush, Jones greets the idea. Most likely because he can use the qualified help for future projects in Sofia.

Jones, who started out as a low-budget movie actor, seems content with the way his career turned out.

"Creating a whole new breed of zombies is tiresome when you have to do it all by yourself, Jones admits, but it is fun as you can let your imagination soar."
