Patients suffering of renal disorder have lodged a protest declaration in the headquarters of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).

The document was submitted during an organised demonstration against the changes in the new policy of NHIF affecting patients with renal insufficiency.

Patients blamed the state fund of negligent and immoral attitude toward their health, insisting that financial problems could not be an excuse for depriving them of life saving drugs and medical procedures.

Several months ago the fund decided to limit the number of patients that could benefit from a state program of haemodialysis, thus forcing the rest to pay for an expensive life-saving treatment.

The indignant protestors requested a quick and effective settlement of the problem allowing anyone who needs haemodialysis treatment to partake in the program. They also demanded for reporting on the current state of the program, and how many people are currently being treated. .
