Bulgaria's Island Touch

by Petya Bondokova

That could be good news or bad news, but Bulgaria and the exotic Caribbean isles seem to have something in common! When a Bulgarian television crew was caught by a storm in the Atlantic, ironically, Bulgaria was also experiencing trouble with winds and rain. It is not to be expected for a mainland European country to appear helpless before a rainfall, but hey, the bad drainage is here. Plus we don't know where exactly the European donations for fighting floods went. But in life there is always a good side to every story. How could we experience the extremes of tropical weather if not with the drowned streets, cars and houses? It's just like a distant island, or maybe even like Venice! So enjoy the streets-turned-canals, and remind yourself how expensive it would have been to get to the Caribbean instead.
