Bush Calls for Democratic Change in Cuba

US President George Bush has urged Cubans to work for democratic changes, during his first statement after Cuban leader Fidel Castro, 80, underwent surgery. In a written statement, he pledged Washington's support for Cubans who sought to "build a transitional government in Cuba committed to democracy". It also remains unclear whether Castro is still at hospital, or recovering at home.
